Quotes on this blog

On this blog I quote Sir Lee, commenting on his films. Those quotes are from The Films of Christopher Lee, by Robert W. Pohle Jr and Douglas C. Hart.

That book is what it says, a summary of Sir Christopher Lee's films and from dawn of time until – 1982. Countries, releases, dates, and such. Lee provides with his own comments. From time to time they are quite devastating notes. But fun, as well. All quotes are from this book, unless I don't mention anything else.

Another book to mention, is of course Sir Lees autobiograpy, Tall Dark and Gruesome, from which I of course took the title to this blog (but changed it back to the way it should be... :-)).
That book is an absolute must for any Lee-fan.

I tried to read when I was 16, and I quite rapidly realised that my English was utterly inadequate to understand all the neuances, Lee using quite an advanced language with words I had never heard of.

From that book I first learned that "a bat" not only a is a nocturnal animal, but could as well be a cricket bat. How very odd. Nevertheless, some parts I understood and some parts I remember as hilarious.

Now I re-read it again. This time I understand it perfectly and the hard times Lee had as a child, often beaten, being blamed for all sorts of mischief.

I have the american edition from 1997, unfortunately a lousy paperback-edition. Be warned of this one. I have to buy a hard back! This one comes apart in my hands. Crap!

(The autobiography Lord of Misrule was released 2004. Unfortunately, I haven't read it.  I'll have to. :-))
