You will be greatly missed

I have now known for some hours that Sir Lee has passed away.
This is indeed a sad day.

Earlier today I saw Mark Gatiss tweet:

He actually captures my own thoughts. However, since I grew up in Sweden, not many in my childhood had really any grasp of Christopher Lee. Some knew what he had done during his Hammer years, but in Bergman-film-snobbish-Sweden that kind of cinematic work was sneered upon. I myself had seen him in The Three Musketeers as a child and loved his appearance. It was, needless to say, impossible tho get hold of any of his films. I was fangirlishly happy when I caught sight of him in Macahans. But when the VHS-market was opened in the 80's in Sweden, I could finally at least watch The Man with The Golden Gun. I was 14 and stuck.

Sir Christopher has always been underrated, just as Mark Gatiss tweets. But that's why I absolutely love to watch this wonderful moment when he gets his special BAFTA- award in 2011. The ovations  are moving - a very proud moment.

I am truly, truly greatful to have had fifteen years of possibilites to see Christopher Lee on the silver screen - first in Sleepy Hollow (1999) and then, of course, in the new Star Wars- episodes, in LOTR and the Hobbit-movies.

Rest in peace, sir Christopher.
You will be greatly missed.
