He would have been perfect. when you consider the number of characters he has played, that had the whole tortured, romantic, angelic thing in monsterous form going on, (Kharis and Frankenstein's monster are two that come to mind,) and combine that experience with his singing, well, it would simply have been perfect. just perfect.
I don't know how well you know Phantom of the Opera, but search for "Music of the night" on You Tube. "Nightime Sharpens/ Heightens each sensation/ darkness wakes and stirrs imagination..." That would have been brilliant. Or: "Past the point of no return/ no use resisting /the games we've played till now are at an end..." I get goosebumps at the mere thought of it. Not only the theme of the musical is wonderfyl, the tone, the mode and the genre of music would have suited his voice beautifully. Webber, please rewind history!
